Peter Jackson To Produce Hobbit Sequels

Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema have mended their strained relationship after bitterly and publicly fighting over profits from the Lord of the Rings franchise.

Jackson announced on that he would produce The Hobbit and its sequel, both prequels to the Rings mythology on Tuesday.

Principal photography is expected to begin in 2009 the movie will be shot simultaneously. The two films are scheduled for release in 2010 and 2011.

Jackson said: “I’m very pleased we have been able to put our differences behind us. We’re delighted to continue our journey through Middle Earth.”

Jackson will not direct the films, claiming he could not meet the planned release dates of 2010 and 2011.
