Hollywood Speaks on Miley Cyrus’ Vanity Fair Scandal
Miley Cyrus‘ Vanity Fair’s topless spread did not only receive excessive media coverage and got everyone around us to talk about the Disney teen sensation’s Vanity Fair’s photo. It seems that a large part of Hollywood celebrities do wish to voice out their words for the teen struck incident.
Here is what Hollywood have to say about Miley’s topless Vanity Fair photo shoot:
Jamie Lee Curtis - “When these young people get all dressed up for award show red-carpet events don’t we all comment how beautiful, stunning and grown-up they look in their strapless/backless dresses and heels and tousled hair? First of all, if you’ve ever taken pictures of yourself in a compromising position or semi-nude, then you need to shut up and not judge someone for what you yourself have done. That’s hypocrisy. And there’s nothing worse than a hypocrit.
Second, if there are no compromising pictures of yourself, then you have cause to voice an opposing view, but before you do consider that Miley is by no means nude or topless in the photo spread, which makes one wonder why the media continually refers to them as nude or topless photos, since they’re not. There are no shots of Miley’s breasts or privates, as we saw from Vanessa Hudgens not too long ago. In fact, Miley is totally clothed beneath the blanket. Only her back is exposed. You’d see much more skin at the beach, or even at a prom. So how is this corrupting our youth? If you think the problem is that her pose is too sexual for a 15 year old, then you need a reality check - because believe it or not there is more implied sexualization on the Disney Channel then there is in that photo. Pay closer attention to High School Musical and you’ll see. Miley’s pristine character, Hannah Montana herself, often dances provocatively. And then there’s the Cheetah Girls - what’s that attraction all about if not sexual? Our own children seem to acquire these characteristics - but whether culture is copying TV or vice versa is too much to look into here.
Third and final point - Miley apologized. And she really didn’t have to. But she did. And that should have ended the whole debate. Funny that we’re only talking more and more about it.
