Madonna’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Madonna Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in its 23rd annual induction ceremony held at the Waldorf-Astoria, NYC.

She was introduced by Justin Timberlake who collaborated with her on her upcoming album Hard Candy.

“She found time to publicly kiss someone I may or may not have kissed myself – while I was in the audience. Of course, you all know who I’m talking about: Sean Penn.”

“The world is full of Madonna wanna-bes. I might have even dated a couple,” said Britney Spears’ ex. “But there is truly only one Madonna.”

Timberlake told of how he felt ill one day while working on Madonna’s new album and she asked whether he wanted a B-12 shot. He said sure, expecting a doctor to show up, but Madonna pulled out a syringe and said, “Drop ‘em.”

After he pulled his pants back up, “She looked at me and said, ‘That’s top shelf,’ and that was one of the greatest days of my life,” he said.

“Everything he said is basically true,” Madonna confirmed, “but I didn’t say ‘Drop ‘em,’ I said, ‘Pull your pants down.’ ”

Among the people she thanked, Madonna recalled a teacher who encouraged her to follow her dreams when she was only 14.

“Thirty-five years later, people are still encouraging me to believe in my dreams,” she said at the induction ceremony.

“What more could I ask for?”

Even the people who “said I was talentless, that I was chubby, that I couldn’t sing, that I was a one-hit wonder, they helped me, too,” she said. “They inspired me because they made me question myself repeatedly and pushed me to be better.”

Madonna did not perform that night but Iggy Pop performed his own versions of Madonna’s hits, “Burnin’ Up” and “Ray of Light,” gyrating shirtless on stage before jumping into Madonna’s lap in the audience.

We thought its about time to add Madonna to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but a syringe in your handbag? Thats weird!

Madonna “Interview” Magazine April 2008

Madonna Interview magazine April 2008

Madonna graces the cover of April 2008 issue of Interview magazine. The singer poses as a boxer while spreading her legs for the cover shot of her second magazine this month to promote her upcoming album Hard Candy.

Here are some juices from Interview magazine featuring Madonna:

On her collaboration Justin Timberlake:
“I really enjoy writing with Justin….We had psychoanalytic sessions whenever we wrote songs first. We’d sit down and we’d start talking about situations. And then we’d start talking about issues or problems or relationships with people. That was the only way, because you know, writing together with somebody is very intimate….that was fun, because he’s open and he’s got talent. He’s a songwriter. I haven’t worked with a lot of songwriters where I’m instantly connected and start riffing and playing with the rhythm of the words. He’s as interested in the rhythm of the words as the meaning of the words.”

On adopting her son David:
“He wouldn’t have lived if I hadn’t taken him. It’s not even a possibility.”

On gaining perspective:
“We live very comfortable lives, and unfortunately, we have to have our noses rubbed in other people’s pain and suffering to realize how much we have and how much we have to be grateful for.”

On bringing daughter Lourdes with her to Malawi:
“She spent several weeks working in the orphanages, particularly one with newborn children, and most of them were HIV-positive. She so came into her own and was so responsible and stayed for eight hours every day and worked tirelessly. I thought, why am I babying her so much? She’s capable of so much more. We don’t let kids do anything. We think, Oh, they’re kids - they can’t take care of other kids; they can’t do this; they can’t do that. And after you go to Africa, you drop all that silliness.”

On freedom:
“Freedom is a funny word because when we think we’re free, we’re not really. I think freedom is quite illusory….When I stop thinking about myself all the time and put other people before me on a regular basis, that’s real freedom. When I can love unconditionally….then that’s real freedom. So it’s something to strive for, but I’m not free.”

The queen of pop is turning big 5-0 this coming August and yet still looking juicy in this magazine photo shoot.

Madonna Does Dazed & Confused Magazine

Madonna Dazed & Confused magazine

Madonna graces the cover of UK magazine Dazed & Confused. The April 2008 issue of the magazine came out on March 11th.

In the queen of pop’s first interview about her new album Hard Candy, worked on with Justin Timberlake, Pharrell, and Timbaland, Madonna discusses her many different, and occasionally contradictory, roles.

“I have moments where I feel incredibly invincible and know that I have the audience in my hand… and then I have panic attacks, where I feel like everyone is breathing my air, and I might just die on stage.”

“I think that life is a paradox and you have to embrace that in your work and your belief systems… you can’t be a literalist, and thats the trouble that people always find themselves in. Thats why people always hit a wall with any of my stuff, because you can’t take it literally.” - Madonna

Madonna’s upcoming album Hard Candy will be released on April 29th.
