Fergie Proud of Her Latina Roots

Fergie who is often questioned about her ethnicity reveals her Latina roots.

The singer set the record straight about her Latina roots with Latina magazine during her recent appearance on Idol Gives Back.

“Yes, I have Mexican in my ancestry,” said Fergie. “My Dad’s grandmother was born in Guanajuato. I’m very proud of it; that’s probably where I get my fire! I’m mostly Scottish-Irish, though.”

“My heritage is a complete mixture that includes Irish, Scottish and Mexican strains, and I don’t feel tied to any one culture.”

When the magazine asks Fergie why her Latina background has been so ambiguous the singer say, “I don’t go around claiming it big time,” the singer explained, “because there are many more full-bred Latinas that are out there to represent.”

Unlike Jessica (Don’t Call Me Latina) Alba who strongly denies her Latina root, Fergie isn’t trying to hide them.

There’s nothing to be shame of!

Fergie and Josh Duhamel Are Engaged

Fergie and Josh Duhamel are engaged after dating for 3 years.

“Fergie called a lot of her girlfriends today to tell them the news,” a source close to the singer told PEOPLE. “She said they don’t know what kind of wedding they want yet, but that she is the happiest girl on earth.”

Josh’s rep would say only that they got engaged “recently,” but not on Christmas.

Fergie was showing off her huge engagement rock on her hand on Thursday.

Congrats to the Fergie and Josh!

Fergie Blender’s Woman of the Year

Fergie is Blender magazine’s Woman of the Year. She is the cover girl for their January/February 2008 issue.

In an interview with Blender, Fergie was teased about peeing herself onstage.

Do you ever wish you’d been a star in the days before the Internet destroyed celebrity mystique?
At this point, no. People put celebrities on a pedestal and act like they’re perfect. But I’m more like the people’s artist — the same way Diana was “the people’s princess.” I’m a little more human than other artists. I’m not afraid to show my flaws and have a laugh about it.

So people can relate to you. They see what you’ve been through, and they think, Oh, I’ve had a bad day like that, too.
You have?

Well, no, I haven’t peed myself onstage.
You haven’t had to go straight onstage after being late for a show, then jumped up and down while singing “Let’s Get Retarded.” OK, motherfucker? I was late, so I didn’t go to the restroom before I went onstage. It was horrible. But, whatever. It happened.

– and she even talked about her relationship with Josh Duhamel

Did you wish that Josh would marry you?
We’re practically married, anyway. I’m madly in love with him. He understands how to treat a woman and give me respect. And I’m gonna miss him on tour. [Her eyes start to drip, and then she turns mean.] Here I go again. Don’t make me cry, you fucker.
