How well Paris Hilton travels is about to be put to the test, as the American hotel heiress is taking her act to British TV, reports People.

“Everyone knows I love L.A. But London, watch out – I’m coming to town and bringing my fast-paced life with me,” Hilton, 27, said in a statement to trumpet the U.K. version of her still-yet-to-air U.S. MTV series in which she searches for a new BFF.

“I’m in the U.K. all the time, but of course I can’t bring all my friends, so I’ve decided to look for a new BFF across the pond,” Hilton is quoted as saying on the Web site of ITV, whose ITV2 will air her show.

“I need a best friend who is hot, who can keep up with me, and most of all, who is real and won’t be a backstabber. I’m not leaving London until I find that amazing girl or guy who can meet the challenges of being my British bestie!”

In March, Hilton and MTV announced that the hotel heiress would star in its new reality series to be titled I Wanna Be Paris’s New Best Friend!, to begin production in May and to air in the final quarter of this year.

More than 85,000 BFF wannabes reportedly sought to apply to the MTV show.

Asks the promo for the British version, titled, simply, Paris Hilton’s New Best Friend: “Will the contestants have the energy to keep up with Paris’s dizzying schedule? Will they have the looks and style to effortlessly accompany La Hilton down the red carpet, or will they be hopelessly out of their depth? Who could resist tuning in to find out?”

U.K. applicants, who are to be between ages 18 and 28, have until Sept. 1 to submit their photos and forms.

Actress Selma Blair thinks that fellow Americans are too obsessed with celebrity lifestyle and people in her native country spend too much time idolising those in the public eye, such as actress Lindsay Lohan and her family.

Speaking about the forthcoming American version of the Australian TV show Kath + Kim - in which she plays spoilt daughter Kim Craig - Blair says, “You don’t think there are some deluded Americans? Hey, how about all of us!

“Everyone here is obsessed with tabloid celebrities and their lives and wanting to be like that, just like Kim.

“In America you have the people who watch the Lohans’ reality show and want to be like Dina and Ali Lohan and live in a house with a throne in it. Everywhere! They’re just everywhere!”

Charlie Sheen, “I’m extremely proud of our show … I am more excited for my fellow Two and a Half Men nominees.”

Tom Bergeron, “Want to see … the glamorous life of an Emmy nominee: When we’re done talking, I’m getting in my 1978 Volkswagen beetle convertible and driving to the garage so they can install a windshield [part]. Nothing like show business!”

Howie Mandel, “I was in bed and I watched [the announcement]. I’ve never been this excited with no pants on and my wife still sleeping!”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “I’m not going to start drinking. I’m going to start exercising so I can fit into my Emmy dress. By the way, I’m not kidding. I’m actually going to go and have a massive workout this morning.”

Kyra Sedgwick, “I’m thrilled. It’s fantastic, it’s wonderful. It’s funny because this morning I woke up at 5:20 L.A. time, and I sort of was half – I mean, actually, that’s a lie – I was wholly waiting for the phone to ring.”

Sally Field, “I’m very honored. It never gets old. I do, but it doesn’t.”

Jean Smart, “I’m really happy, incredibly flattered and surprised! I am working out of state right now and forgot they were being announced this morning! I’m especially excited that Christina [Applegate] and I can go dress-hunting together.”

America Ferrera, “It’s exciting. You kind of just mentally prepare yourself for either way, like if it happens, great, if it doesn’t. … But in the moment, that kind of all goes out the window and you hope it does.”

Will Arnett, “My parents always told me it was important to be a good guest, so I feel like they deserve the credit,”

Amy Poehler, “I’m so excited, thrilled. It was an awesome year for Saturday Night Live. I continue to be honored to be on that show. I think the people I work with are the funniest people I television.”

David Cook Winner of American Idol Season 7

David Cook American Idol Season 7

David Cook was declared the winner of the Season 7 of American Idol on Wednesday after receiving 56% of the votes casted.

Cook was tending bar and playing in a band before he auditioned for Idol and after his winning, Cook’s single “The Time of My Life” went on sale on iTunes and immediately shot up to #1 spot, follow by his three other songs that he sang on this week’s finale.

Cook tells Reuters that his next record will likely to be a rock record.

“It’ll probably be a rock record. I just want to make a record that’s going to make the hair on your neck stand up. Even if it doesn’t do well commercially, as long as I can put out a record I am proud of — that’s the goal right now. And hopefully the success will follow.”

David Archuleta who comes in as first runner-up thinks Cook deserves winning the Idol competition.

“To the people who’ve been supporting me so much, I just want to thank them. It means more than anything to know that people are appreciating the hard work that we put into this. I want them to know that I’m feeling great about it. The fact that Cook won, I think he deserved it so much. He just proved it week after week. He deserves to be the American Idol! He’s such a great guy too. My main priority wasn’t to win the competition; it was just to do my best. You can suck and people can vote enough for you to win, but that wouldn’t feel very good. [Laughs.] We both gave it all. We just poured it all onto that stage on Tuesday night. And we both feel really great about it. I don’t think I could have done anything better or change anything to make me feel any better about what I did.

Do you think if David Cook will be as successful as Daughtry?
