McConaughey Record Label

Matthew McConaughey’s representative has confirmed that the actor is going to launch his own record label.

The ‘Fools Gold’ star has already his first artist called Mishka. An insider told New York Post, “He’s looking for a distribution deal with all the major labels for his own label. His first artist is a reggae guy called Mishka. The album will be called ‘Above the Bones’ and the first single is ‘Here Comes Da Train’. He’s also doing the soundtrack for ‘Surfer Dude’.”

Britney Working On Her New Album

Britney Spears is spending her summer in by recording new song for her up-coming album.

The singer’s maganer Larry Rudolph confirmed the rumors on Wednesday.

A representative for Jive Records says in a press realise,  “(Britney) is spending her summer in the recording studio.”

The spokesperson added, “She’s working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters and we’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet.”

David Cook Winner of American Idol Season 7

David Cook was declared the winner of the Season 7 of American Idol on Wednesday after receiving 56% of the votes casted.

Cook was tending bar and playing in a band before he auditioned for Idol and after his winning, Cook’s single “The Time of My Life” went on sale on iTunes and immediately shot up to #1 spot, follow by his three other songs that he sang on this week’s finale.

Cook tells Reuters that his next record will likely to be a rock record.

“It’ll probably be a rock record. I just want to make a record that’s going to make the hair on your neck stand up. Even if it doesn’t do well commercially, as long as I can put out a record I am proud of — that’s the goal right now. And hopefully the success will follow.”

David Archuleta who comes in as first runner-up thinks Cook deserves winning the Idol competition.

“To the people who’ve been supporting me so much, I just want to thank them. It means more than anything to know that people are appreciating the hard work that we put into this. I want them to know that I’m feeling great about it. The fact that Cook won, I think he deserved it so much. He just proved it week after week. He deserves to be the American Idol! He’s such a great guy too. My main priority wasn’t to win the competition; it was just to do my best. You can suck and people can vote enough for you to win, but that wouldn’t feel very good. [Laughs.] We both gave it all. We just poured it all onto that stage on Tuesday night. And we both feel really great about it. I don’t think I could have done anything better or change anything to make me feel any better about what I did.

Janet Jackson “Rock Witchu” Tour

Janet Jackson announced the dates and cities for her upcoming “Rock Witchu” tour on Wednesday after revealing it on Ellen’s talk show earlier.

Rock Witchu tour which will be promoting hits from her 2006 LP 20 Y.O. and this year’s Discipline album is set to kick off in Canada this September and it will be Janet’s first tour in over seven years.

Mariah’s husband Nick Cannon is featured in the video.

Coldplay “Violet Hill” Video

Coldplay just-released the music video for their latest single Violet Hill.

The single was initially offered in download for free during the first week of it’s release on the band’s official website.

Coldplay’s new album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends will be out June 12th.

Rihanna’s “Take A Bow” Tops Billboard Chart

Rihanna once again topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her latest single “Take A Bow” which will also be released in the expanded version of her album which is set to release on June 17th.

The single made the second highest jump in Billboard history after jumping from number 53 to the number one spot. Second to Maroon 5’s “Makes Me Wonder” last year, jumping from number 64 to number one on the Hot 100.

In addition to that, “Take A Bow” had an opening week of 267,000 digital downloads, winning her two of the top three opening-week downloads in history. She was only surpassed recently by Mariah Carey’s Touch My Body, which hit the all time high number-one spot with 286,000 downloads last month, beating Rihanna’s Umbrella which debuted last year at 277,000.

At the rate that Rihanna is going, she’ll most likely reclaim her top spot from Mariah real soon!
